Super thanks to everyone who showed up, congrats to Summoning for getting 1st in MKII again, and for AC and Rich for placing in UMK3. Definitely a great showing and an interesting tournament. Good job on Rich getting revenge on Joe, and AC for knocking me into Losers. Unfortunately there was a bit of confusion and Joe iloveu was DQed from Winners Bracket due to being unable to play because of other tournaments demanding he stay. I’ll have videos of most of the UMK3 matches and a few from MKII.

UMK3 Arcade Machine Update

Tino has completely rewired his machine, rebuilt the power supply, every bit of ever major component and it seems to be in working order. We need to reseat the sticks I think because something feels off about them but otherwise, by around 1 AM the machine was in perfect working order. Major props to Tino on his diligent work, because learning this and getting all the equipment would have taken me weeks to months to learn to do on my own. He’s never worked on an arcade machine before but he is a master of electronics and quickly figured out everything we needed. Some interesting things will soon emerge.

We also now have an MKII board/set, the Zeus hack, and an extra UMK3 board on the way which hasn’t arrived yet. MK1 and MK4 are next and we’ll have everything set to use the 6 board changer for a full on multi MK machine.

Arcade Cabinet Update

We have run into a snag with the wiring and possibly the PSU with the cabinet but Summoning is currently in the process of obtaining everything we need, on top of several other MK game boards so we’ll eventually have an all in one MK machine. Wish us luck.

UMK3 Finally Comes Home

The Eagle has landed.

Well, today was certainly quite an experience. I drove to Maryland and picked up a UMK3 Arcade machine.

My grandfather was kind enough to drive us a total of 7 hours utilizing his trailer hitch to transport the machine. When we got there, we (9.95, Kaldragon and I) realized that the machine was in Ryan’s basement, which was still level with the ground behind his apartment. We had two choices: either pull it up the stairs, or wheel it around back. Wheeling it around back wouldn’t have been such a problem, however the ground was freshly covered with 2″ of snow.

We decided the best way would be to bring the machine around the back and just force it through the snow, but the ground was very uneven and sloped on top it. The 3 of us forced the machine over ivy, tree roots, and other environmental hazards until we reached a path/trail that ran through the development. At this point, the final effort was to then push the machine up a gradually more steep hill, covered in snow and ice. Fortunately Ryan had some fast acting salt left and gave us some traction at the most steep point towards the top, which basically was a 20 foot incline.

Once we got it over the hill, it was smooth sailing into the back of the trailer, we leaned it in, and boom. We were ready to go, said goodbye and thanks to Ryan, gave him a link to the  site and were on our way.

Getting the machine into Summoning’s basement was very easy, simple lift up one step through the garage, and into the wreckroom, hooked it up and we were done.

Much thanks to my grandfather, Phil and Chris for helping in the first half. Thanks to Tino for helping me get the machine into the house.

Much thanks to Ryan for selling us his prized UMK3 machine. We really appreciate it and hope to see him at future tournaments. Your machine will be well treated.
