UltimateMK.com was formed in March 2006 originally as a forum and information and video resource for the classic Mortal Kombat Community in response to the fractured presence of the competitive scene on various message boards, forums and online resource groups, that provided a more general interest of the games. Over the course of a few years of participating on sites such as Shoryuken.com, MKOnline, TRMK, TotalMK, DavesMK, Kamidogu, GameSpot, GameStop, GameFAQs, GameCombos and more, we coalesced the players who were interested in competitive gaming, in particular, MK games.

We were able to begin the message boards with hundreds of pre-registered users and launched on or about June 12th, 2006, in the midst of the announcement of UMK3 on XBLA. The site quickly grew to over 1200 users, in what was still a very small, and personal community with no current game that was being played at live, in-person tournaments. The majority of the 3D MK scene resided in online play at the time.

After a few years, the forum was closed but remained opened for several more years as a museum of information, until merging with TestYourMight.com in 2012, where the forum threads from 2006 to 2010 can be found and still participated in to this day.

Prior to the merger, UltimateMK would become KombatNetwork, an NRS game focused tournament running, organizing and streaming production team.
